Transceivers/Media Converters

The iConverter 10/100 managed media converters are members of the modular iConverter product family, and provide 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX fiber conversion.

The iConverter 10/100 modules are available with multimode, single-mode and single-fiber options, and support ST, SC and LC connectors. The UTP port supports 10/100 and Half/Full-Duplex auto-negotiation with both hardware and software manual override. A UTP crossover switch eliminates the need for a crossover cable and facilitates connectivity to network equipment. The 10/100 also features two Ethernet Backplane ports to provide connectivity to adjacent modules for network expansion and for in-band connectivity to an iConverter Network Management Module.

The iConverter Redundant Fast Ethernet modules are designed for use in networks that require fiber or copper link redundancy. With a link fault detection time of 100 microseconds, the Redundant iConverter modules provide the rapid response time required for mission-critical applications.

All ports support Half or Full-Duplex operation, and the UTP ports can auto-negotiate or be manually set to a required duplex mode. The fiber ports are always set to manual mode. All ports in an application must be set to the same duplex mode.

All ports support Link Propagation (Link Loss Carry Forward), Link Segmentation, Remote Fault Detection and Symmetrical Fault Detection modes to facilitate quick fault detection, isolation and reporting.

The iConverter 2Fx managed media converter is a member of the modular iConverter product family. The 2Fx provides a cost effective solution for extending network distances by connecting multimode fiber network devices over single-mode fiber cabling. The iConverter 2Fx both regenerates and re-times the fiber optic signal, and multiple 2Fxs can be used to extend total network distances.

iConverter 2Fx models are available with multimode, single-mode, or single-fiber options, and support ST, SC, MT-RJ and LC connectors.

The iConverter 2Fx features two 10/100 Ethernet backplane ports to provide connectivity to adjacent modules for network expansion and provides additional fiber ports for iConverter modular NIDs.

iConverter 2Fx models support multimode and single-mode dual fiber with ST, SC and LC connectors; and single-mode single-fiber with SC connectors.

The 802.1p prioritization enables delivery of Quality of Service (QoS) to high-priority, real-time applications such as voice and video over Ethernet.

The iConverter 2Fx supports Bandwidth and Port Access Controls. Bandwidth Control enables the network administrator to selectively deliver eight different levels of traffic bandwidth to different ports, thereby limiting the bandwidth allocated to individual users. The Port Access Control enables the network administrator to easily control and deny individual port access while maintaining port configuration for easy port re-enabling.

The 2Fx features user-selectable fault detection modes to facilitate quick fault detection, isolation and reporting.

iConverter 2Fx modules are hot-swappable and can be mounted in a 19-Module (2U high) or 5-Module (1U high) rackmountable chassis (19-inch or 23-inch) with redundant AC, 24VDC or 48VDC power supplies. They can also be mounted in a 2-Module AC or 18 to 60VDC powered chassis, or in a 1-Module AC or DC powered chassis.
