Cisco^®ASR 900 Series Aggregation Services Routers are full-featured, modular aggregation platforms. They're designed for the cost-effective delivery of converged mobile, residential, and business services. You get redundancy, a shallow depth, low power consumption, and high service scale in routers packed with useful features and optimized for small aggregation and remote Point-of-Presence (POP) applications.

The Cisco ASR 903 Router supports broadband aggregation for delivering "any-play" services (voice, video, data, and mobility). Designed to support thousands of subscribers, quality of service (QoS) on the Cisco ASR 903 Router is capable of scaling up to a large number of queues per device. This large number of queues, combined with a highly granular QoS algorithm (three-level hierarchical QoS), results in a greatly enhanced broadband user experience. This full-featured Layer 2 and Layer 3 switch router supports a variety of broadband applications including IPTV and video on demand (VoD), enhancing and extending the Cisco IP Next-Generation Network (IP NGN) architecture.

The Cisco® ASR 920 Series Aggregation Services Router (ASR) is a full-featured converged access platform designed for the cost-effective delivery of wireline and wireless services. These temperature-hardened, high-throughput, small-form-factor, low-power-consumption routers are optimized for mobile backhaul and business applications. The Cisco ASR 920 Router provides a comprehensive and scalable feature set of Layer 2 VPN (L2VPN) and Layer 3 VPN (L3VPN) services in a compact package. It also enables service providers to deploy Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based VPN services from within the access layer. The Cisco ASR 920 Series offers key Carrier Ethernet features that simplify network operation; you can use them for premium services with enhanced service-level agreements (SLAs). An optional "pay-as-you-grow" feature and service-activation model makes the Cisco ASR 920 Series flexible and cost-effective.

Cisco® ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers aggregate multiple WAN connections and network services including encryption and traffic management, and forward them across WAN connections at line speeds from 2.5 to 200 Gbps. The routers contain both hardware and software redundancy in an industry-leading high-availability design.

The latest additions to the Cisco ASR 1000 Series are the Cisco ASR 1002-HX Router and the Cisco ASR 1001-HX Router. Both new routers support up to 100 Gbps in a 2-rack-unit (2RU) and 60 Gbps in a 1-rack-unit (1RU) form factor, respectively. The ASR 1002-HX has 8 built-in 10-Gigabit Ethernet (GE) ports and 8 1-GE ports, with the Ethernet port adapter (EPA) slot for expansion. The ASR 1001-HX has 4 built-in 10-GE ports, 8 1-GE ports, and 4 configurable 10-GE or 1-GE ports

The Cisco ASR 1000 Series supports Cisco IOS® XE Software, a modular operating system with modular packaging, feature velocity, and powerful resiliency. The Cisco ASR 1000 Series Embedded Services Processors (ESPs), which are based on Cisco Flow Processor™ technology, accelerate many advanced features such as crypto-based access security; Network Address Translation (NAT), thread defense with Cisco Zone-Based Firewall (ZBFW), deep packet inspection (DPI), Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE), and a diverse set of
data-center-interconnect (DCI) features. These services are implemented in Cisco IOS XE Software without the need for additional hardware support.
