The Black Box Secure KVM Peripheral Defender, NIAP 3.0, DVI-I, Audio, USB, CAC is designed to prevent data leakage between secure and unsecure systems through shared peripherals connections. The Peripheral Isolator offers a reliable way to protect vulnerable peripherals shared by classified or secure networks and prevents threats from connections with unauthorized or untrusted peripheral devices. The device also safeguards critical data from accidental transfers, unauthorized access, or compromised data. This is perfect for any organization that handles sensitive or confidential data on separate computer networks.

Use the Secure KVM Peripheral Defender to lock down and prevent data leakage between classified and unsecure computers through a shared peripheral device. The isolator blocks the direct connection between the host PC or laptop and a peripheral device exposed to security threats, such as a printer, projector, speaker or any other peripheral device that shares access with a classified computer or network and ensures that video, USB, and audio data flow only from the computer to the peripheral - with no access to other classified or sensitive networks. This single direction data transmission provides complete isolation of the secure computer, preventing all kinds of intruder attempts via cyber hacking, eavesdropping, or device re-tasking.

Install the isolator between your peripheral and computer by connecting the video, keyboard, mouse, and audio port of the computer to the isolator inputs as well as the DVI, keyboard, mouse or audio ports of your peripheral device. By doing this the computer and peripherals are completely isolated from each other.

Why Secure KVM
Connecting peripherals such as monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers to a PC introduces potential data leakage and hacking risks. Secure KVM Switches are designed for use in any application where sensitive data must be protected, including defense, government agencies, and intelligence. Secure KVM Switches from Black Box are NIAP PP 3.0 certified and equipped with the highest security features that meet today's Information Assurance safe control standards. The switches contain unique hardware configurations that prevent data leakage between PCs and connected peripherals eliminating potential cyber threats.

The Pro Switching System 2U is an intelligent ganged switching system consisting of an ultra-compact 2U 18-slot chassis and a selection of A/B switching, controller, and power supply cards.

Controller Cards take up only one slot, and Power Cards take up one slot or two slots for redundancy, leaving you with 13 - 15 slots for A/B Switch Cards. All occupy one slot, except for the DB25 Cards, which require three slots.

Local and remote control
The advanced design of this system gives incredible operational flexibility and performance. Switch one card individually or switch the entire chassis through a Controller Card. You will need one Controller Card per rack chassis. If you plan to daisy chain multiple chassis, the Controller Card in the first chassis controls the entire system.

You can choose an RS-232 Only Controller Card, which enables you to gang switch via the manual toggle switch or with serial commands, as well as an RS-232/Ethernet (SNMP) Controller Card, which enables you to switch the chassis from anywhere via an RS-232 or IP connection.

If you want to extend RS-232/IP control to a second daisy-chained Pro Switching System chassis, order the SNMP Expansion Controller Card. This enables you to send hardware control signals and control the daisy-chained system with RS-232 messages through the RS-232/Ethernet (SNMP) Controller Card.

Secure and fallback switching.
For fail-safe operation, all the cards (except those noted) use proprietary latching or micro-mirror relay switching technology - which means data can continue to pass through even if the power has been cut off. Because the cards perform Layer 1 switching, the system operates independently of data rates, protocols, formats, or signal levels.

The non-latching fiber cards fall back to a Port C (chassis) to Port A connection when the power fails. When power is restored, the non-latching switch card reconnects Port C to the originally selected port (A or B). These types of cards are typical when you want a fallback or failover connection during power outages.

Each chassis also has a keyed switch so you can enable/disable manual switching from the front-panel toggle switches.

Control power.
To power your chassis, order one or two external power supplies, and the power adapter card. For backup power, add a Redundant Power Supply Card.

• If you plan to daisy-chain multiple chassis, the Controller Card in the first chassis controls the entire system.
