Cisco UCS® M-Series Modular Servers are designed to meet the high-density, low-power demands of massively parallelized and cloud-scale applications. The unique design of the Cisco UCS M4308 Modular Chassis uses Cisco System Link technology to provide infrastructure resources to the Cisco UCS M-Series compute cartridges, including power, cooling, I/O, and local disk-all managed within the stateless computing environment of Cisco UCS Manager. UCS M-Series Compute Cartridges eliminate the complexity of a traditional server, delivering discrete compute and memory, fully separated from the infrastructure components provided by the M4308 Chassis. The UCS M-Series Compute Cartridges and UCS M4308 Modular Chassis provide easy scalability to meet the needs of your applications without over-provisioning.

Cisco UCS® M-Series Modular Servers are designed to meet the high-performance demands of massively parallelized, predominantly single-threaded applications. They combine Cisco® Virtual Interface Card (VIC) technology and server fabric management with x86 computing elements in a dense, modular architecture that delivers no-compromise application performance.

The UCS C240 M5 SFF server extends the capabilities of Cisco's Unified Computing System portfolio in a 2U form factor with the 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors, 3200 MHz DDR4 memory, and the new 512GB Intel® Optane™ Persistent Memory Modules (PMem). With this combination of features, up to 9 TB of memory is possible (using 12 x 256 GB DDR4 DIMMs and 12 x 512 GB PMem), up to 6 PCI Express (PCIe) 3.0 slots, and up to 26 internal SFF drives. The C240 M5 SFF server also includes one dedicated internal slot for a 12G SAS storage controller card.

The C240 M5 server includes a dedicated internal modular LAN on motherboard (mLOM) connector for installation of a Cisco Virtual Interface Card (VIC) or third-party network interface card (NIC), without consuming a PCI slot, in addition to 2 x 10Gbase-T Intel x550 embedded (on the motherboard) LOM ports.

The Cisco UCS C240 M5 server can be used standalone, or as part of the Cisco Unified Computing System, which unifies computing, networking, management, virtualization, and storage access into a single integrated architecture enabling end-to-end server visibility, management, and control in both bare metal and virtualized environments.

The UCS C240 M4 LFF server is the newest 2-socket, 2U rack server from Cisco, designed for both performance and expandability over a wide range of storage-intensive infrastructure workloads from big data to collaboration.

The enterprise-class UCS C240 M4 LFF server extends the capabilities of Cisco's Unified Computing System portfolio in a 2U form factor with the addition of the Intel® Xeon E5-2600 v3 and v4 series processor family that delivers the best combination of performance, flexibility and efficiency gains. In addition, the UCS C240 M4 LFF server provides 24 DIMM slots, up to 6 PCI Express (PCIe) 3.0 slots, up to 12 front-loading LFF drives plus two (optional) internal SFF SATA boot drives for a total of 14 internal drives.

The C240 M4 server includes a modular LAN on motherboard (mLOM) slot for installation of a Cisco Virtual Interface Card (VIC) or third-party network interface card (NIC) without consuming a PCI slot in addition to 2 x 1 GbE embedded (on the motherboard) LOM ports. These features combine to provide outstanding levels of internal memory and storage expandability along with exceptional performance.
