The Cisco UCS C460 M4 High-Performance Rack Server is a four-rack-unit (4RU) server supporting the Intel Xeon E7-8800 v2/v3, E7-4800 v2/v3, or E7-2800 v2 (Ivy Bridge EX) series processor family CPUs, with up to 6 terabytes (TB) of double-data-rate 3 (DDR3) or DDR4 memory in 96 slots, and up to 12 small form factor (SFF), hot-swappable2 SAS and SATA disk drives.

The Cisco UCS C480 M5 High-Performance Rack Server (Figure 1) is a four-rack-unit (4RU) server supporting the 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® processor scalable family CPUs.

The C480 M5 has the following features:

• 2nd Generation Intel ® Xeon ® Scalable Processors.
• DDR4-2933MHz memory DIMMs.
• 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB Intel® Optane™ Persistent Memory Modules (PMem).
• Up to 18 TB of memory is available if the memory slots are populated as follows:
• 24 x 256 GB DDR4 DIMMs
• 24 x 512 GB PMem
• Up to 12 TB is possible using only 48 x 256 GB DDR4 RDIMMs.

12 PCI Express (PCIe) expansion slots support Cisco UCS C-Series network adapters storage controllers, and up to 10 GPUs, with additional I/O provided by two 10GBase-T LOM ports and one 1GbE dedicated out-of-band (OOB) management port. A separate PCIe slot is reserved inside the chassis for a RAID controller card.

12 PCI Express (PCIe) expansion slots support Cisco UCS C-Series network adapters storage controllers, and up to 6 GPUs, with additional I/O provided by two 10GBase-T LOM ports and one 1GbE dedicated out-of-band (OOB) management port. The latest update includes support for 2933 MHz DDR4 memory that is used with the latest 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors. With this combination and the new 512GB Intel® OptaneTM DC Persistent Memory (DCPMM - Data Center Persistent Memory Module), up to 18 TB of memory is possible (24x256GB DDR4 DIMMs and 24x512GB DCPMMs).

The Cisco UCS C480 ML, a purpose-built Server for Deep Learning, is a four-rack-unit (4RU) server supporting Intel® Xeon® processor scalable family CPUs with 8 NVIDIA Tesla V100-32GB Tensor Core GPUs with NVLink Interconnect. It supports up to 3 terabytes (TB) of double-data-rate 4 (DDR4) memory1 in 24 slots, up to 24 small form factor (SFF) hot-swappable2 SAS/SATA SSD/HDD, up to 6 PCIe NVMe disk drives and upto two internal M.2 drives.
